Honestly, it was not love at first sight. We met at a university sailing competition back in 2007. We were rivals; James sailed for UCT and Robyn sailed for Wits. Our first introduction to one another consisted of James funneling beer through someone's legs and having Tabasco thrown into his drink.
After a few years of intense sailing against each other (UCT always winning), and rather competitive Olympic style drinking competitions (Robyn being far better at this than James), James moved to Johannesburg. We set aside our differences and became friends and discovered we actually had rather a lot in common; running, sailing, love for the bush, and being complete nerds. In fact, we became such good friends and then the inevitable happened, feelings stirred and really it has been the happiest 5 years of our lives.
We never went on a first date but James is a hopeless romantic to make up for it. 5 years of dating, 3 years of long distance and a proposal in Kruger National Park (James did not get on one knee for fear of the lions eating him) and happily ever after.
